Drig Drishya Viveka

Drg-Drsya-Viveka is a foundational inquiry into the distinction between the Seer ( drg ) and the Seen ( drsya ). The exact author and date of composition remain uncertain. The text is variously attributed to Adi Sankaracharya, Vidyaranya (the author of the celebrated Panchadasi ), or Bharati Tirtha, who was the guru of Vidyaranya and the 11th pontiff of the Sringeri Math from 1328 A.D. to 1380 A.D. The Sringeri Math was founded by Adi Sankaracharya, establishing an unbroken lineage of pontiffs originating with him. Comprising 46 slokas , Drg-Drsya-Viveka holds a position of immense importance in Advaita literature. Notably, sixteen of its verses (verses 13 through 31, excluding 14, 21, and 28) also appear in the Sarasvati-Rahasyopanishad , indicating that the Upanishad likely incorporated them from this text.
